Vltava Cycling Trail: Prague - Mělník

A longer trail with some important monuments.

A ride through Prague does not represent an orientation problem. The cycling trail in Zbraslav crosses to the right side of the Vltava River and winds along it to Kralupy nad Vltavou.

There is no need to mention the amount and significance and of Prague sights or the various attractions.

Behind Prague, there is a cycle path under numerous viewpoints, from which you can take nice pictures of the massive flow of the Vltava river.

Just behind the bridge in Kralupy nad Vltavou, take notice of the gear wheel from the hydro power plant in Mířejovice. An interesting feature is the arrow gears patented by French manufacturer André Citroën. This type of gearing is still used in Citroen gearboxes and is also reminiscent of the brand's logo.

Do not miss Nelahozeves Castle near Kralupy. This picturesque castle is one of the most important late Renaissance residences in Bohemia. Today it belongs to the Lobkowicz family, and you can see one of the largest family collections of art in Central Europe, as well as a permanent exhibition showing the life of a noble family.

The last important monument before Mělník is Veltrusy Castle, which is surrounded by a large English park with a number of romantic buildings.
