Beer Trail - Route 1

From the center of České Budějovice over 5 breweries to Hluboká nad Vltavou.

If you're looking for a real beer challenge, then this is just a trip for you. The route is almost 23 km long and takes you from the center of České Budějovice via Vrbenské rybníky to Hluboká nad Vltavou.

Breweries on the route

1. Budweiser Budvar Brewery

The brewery brewed the first batch of beer on October 7, 1895. Budweiser Budvar's beer is still produced by traditional Czech technology and the formula has not changed for several generations.

Did you know that Budweiser beer has been known as Budweiser Bier since the Middle Ages?

Produced beers: light lager, light draft beer, non-alcoholic beer, dark lager, specials, ringlet lager, beer spirit, unfiltered beer, yeast lager, mixed beer drink.

2. Microbrewery Krajinská 27

This microbrewery brews classic beers according to old Czech recipes made from quality ingredients. The beers are bottom fermented, ripen in open fermentation tanks and then in lager tanks.

Produced beers: light lager, semi-dark lager, IPA, special.

3. BEERANEK Microbrewery

The microbrewery is housed in one of the traditional brewing houses in the center of České Budějovice. Since 2013, the microbrewery has been faithful to brewing traditional unfiltered and unpasteurized Pilsner beer.

Did you know that this microbrewery currently has the smallest brewhouse (500 l) in the Czech Republic?

4. Microbrewery Kněžínek

It was founded in 2012 and since then has been expanding and increasing the volume of the brewed beer. The beer is produced in small volumes and is consumed in a relatively short time after bottling/barreling, so it is not necessary to filter or pasteurize it.

Produced beers: light lager, semi-dark lager, special light honey beer.

5. Brewery Hluboká

The history of beer brewing in Hluboká dates back to the 15th century. In 2016 it was bought by the grandson of the original owner for the purpose of period reconstruction and installation of beer production technology. The Hluboká Brewery was inaugurated in January 2017.

Produced beers: light draft, pale lager, semi-dark lager, dark special.

Breweries off the route

There are two other breweries in the vicinity of the beer route and it is entirely up to you to decide whether or not to include them in your trip.

  • Samson Brewery, located in České Budějovice. Unfortunately, the brewery does not have its own pub or restaurant.
  • Bukovar Family Brewery from Dolní Bukovsko. If you still have some energy left, you can go to this brewery from the last point of our route, ie from Hluboká nad Vltavou. But the trip is nearly 38 km long. So if you want to extend your beer trip, it may be more appropriate to use a bus.
