Galerie Nahoře invites you to a photography exhibition titled FOREST, MgA. Václav Němec. You can view the exhibition in the gallery until August 3, 2025.
The author said about his photographs: "The cycle that I present here is my view of the forest, a dialogue between me and the photographed landscape. I present photographs here that try to show the beauty, mystery and mysticism of the forest, that is, what fascinates me so much about the subject. I took the photographs during my "under-the-roof" wanderings along the American Appalachian Trail, in Madeira, but especially in the Novohradské Mountains, which, thanks to their abandonment and inaccessibility, still have the hallmark of wilderness. Inspiration? Jackson Pollock and Canadian painter Emily Carr. I have been working on the set since the aforementioned year 2015 to the present."
MgA. Václav Němec (*1965, České Budějovice)
Graduate of the master's degree at the Institute of Creative Photography at the Silesian University in Opava, dramaturg and curator of exhibitions at Biograf Kotva in České Budějovice. In his work, he does not try to document the place of his temporary stay, but rather to record the visual, artistic, but also emotional and symbolic aspects of reality. He displays motifs that resonate with his inner world. He tries to make each individual photograph a unique image based on reality. The author does not fundamentally arrange his photographs, he works with fragments of the lived world. In addition to the Forest cycle, he is working on the endless cycle Notebook, Summertime, On the Road, My Canadian and American Diary, Caravans and now especially on the collection The Last of the Mohicans.
Free admission.
Exhibition opening on Tuesday, June 17th at 5 p.m.
