Divadlo: Karel Hynek Mácha - Máj

Karel Hynek Mácha, often perceived as a torn romantic full of existential uncertainties, created Máj as the crowning work of Czech romanticism. The story follows the fate of the feared bandit leader Vilém, who in a fit of passion kills his son, not knowing that it is his own father. The evening before the execution, Vilém thinks about his fate and remembers the love of his life, Jarmila. He denies his guilt, sees himself as a victim of a cruel and unloving father. May is not only a tragic love story, but also a celebration of Czech nature and love of home.

This production combines visual effects with theater of movement, creating a unique atmosphere that supports the poetic and melancholic mood of the work. A key part of the performance are classic drama performances that allow the actors to fully express the emotional depth of the characters and their tragic dilemmas. Together with elaborate scenography and modern light and sound effects, a complex theatrical experience is created, which amplifies Mách's strong romantic vision.
