The Hořín Lock

The highest navigation level on the Prague-Mělník route.

It is the oldest weir and lock system in the Czech Republic. The Hořín Lock is a well-preserved technical monument from 1902. The lock is made up of two lock chambers where some of the original technical equipment can be noticed.

In 1996 a small hydro power plant with a 30kW Francis turbine was put into operation. The original turbine is exhibited in the Technical Museum in Brno.
