The Nahoře Gallery cordially invites you to the first opening of 2026. The gallery will present the České Budějovice photography group VÝVOJKA, which is celebrating 25 years of its activity this year. The opening of the exhibition will take place on January 6 at 5 p.m.
The photography group Vývojka was founded at the University of South Bohemia in 2001. It began its activities in a grand style. Soon after its foundation, it organized the national FOTOUNIVERZIÁDA competition in the Nahoře Gallery, with the enthusiasm typical of young people. The competition was successful and over the course of ten years, several well-known photography personalities sat on the jury, such as Adolf Zika, Robert Vano, Jiří Turek, Oleg Homola or the editor-in-chief of the Foto Video magazine Rudolf Stáhlich.
From 2002 to 2012, Vývojka, together with Galeria Nahoře, was the co-organizer of this photography competition, to which at first only university students sent their photos each year, and after the rules were changed, dozens of amateur photographers from all over the Czech Republic, Slovakia and other countries submitted their photos. FOTOUNIVERSIÁDA was probably Vývojka's greatest achievement during its existence.
The members of Vývojka are amateurs and professionals from thirty to seventy-five years old. The photo club has no fixed structure, which everyone is very proud of. Nevertheless, they like to meet every Wednesday. The meetings are friendly gatherings in České Budějovice cafes and at the same time a discussion circle not only on the topic of photography.
Over time, all members of the photo club have experienced a major shift in their perception of photography. From the first random successes to today's systematic work on individual topics. Every month, new photographs are screened and evaluated at the meeting, and the best ones are then exhibited together, but sometimes individually.
And the numbers in the title of the exhibition DEVELOPMENT 25 – 50 – 75 mean: the first - the anniversary of the photo club, the second - the fiftieth birthday of president Karel Mika, and the third - the birthday of the oldest member, Milan Špetl.
