Since the spring of 2025, the activities of the Czech-Austrian project “In the footsteps of the Landštejn legends” have been taking place. Guided tours of the church of St. John the Baptist in Pomezí below Landštejn Castle were held, concerts and theatrical performances were held there, the content of which included an author's reading of the “Landštejn legends”. The Austrian sculptor Peter Berger had an exhibition of his unconventional sculptures made of concrete pipes, from which a new altar for the church in Pomezí was also made. A ceremonial blessing of this altar was held, which was performed by Miroslav Štrunc, chaplain in Jindřichův Hradec. Visitors could also see an exhibition of excavations from the Pomezí site from the collections of the Jindřichův Hradec Museum. Outdoor signs with a map and description of the participating sites were also installed. Finally, a map of the project "In the footsteps of Landštejn legends" has been published, which connects seven places involved in the project with a cycling route: the church in Pomezí - the Monastery at Nové Bystřice - the Peršlák Forest Hotel - the town of Litschau - the village of Reingers - Dobrohoř Chateau - Landštejn Castle.
The culmination of the project is the publication of the publication “Landštejnské legendy”, which contains eight verse legends by the author Josef Gušlbauer in Czech and German. Their theme is the common Czech-Austrian history in this restless border region. The launch of the new publication will take place on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at the Lesní hotel Peršlák with the participation of all partners and supporters of the project.
The project is co-financed by the INTERREG Austria-Czech Republic 2021-2027 program, the partner is the Austrian TOGETHER platform from Litschau, led by the chairwoman, Ms. Elisabeth Springer.
