Ludek Rathousky
*1975
A Czech painter inspired by Gothic art, especially the works of Master Theodoric and the Master of the Vyšehrod Altarpiece. His paintings simplify the originals into geometric shapes, work with expressive color and ornament, and preserve the symbolic and majestic nature of medieval paintings.
The exhibition, which includes 160 works by Rathouský, also includes chalk drawings of ships of the former Czechoslovak naval fleet and large-format, emotional paintings with autobiographical elements.
Lois Fasching
*1957
Austrian sculptor creating slightly larger-than-life statues of historical figures associated with the court of King Henry VIII of England.
The cycle represents not only the monarch himself, but also statesmen, intellectuals and women from his close circle, recalling the power relations of his time. The collection is completed by a statue of Queen Elizabeth I, a symbol of stability and prosperity in England.
