The Prácheň museum

Museum awarded the "European Museum of the Year" honorary prize.

The museum presents not only the history of the region, but also other topics such as the Prehistory of the Slavic Age, the Beginnings of the Castle and the Town of Písek, and the Gold in Pootavsko, and others. Besides exhibitions, the museum also organizes educational events, art competitions for children and other cultural activities. The study room is open to researchers. The museum itself was founded in 1884 but moved to the present building in 1902.

Every year the museum organizes: a pre-Christmas mineral exchange, a summer youth camp, and participates in the gold panning competition.

There is a snack bar in the museum shop. The museum is wheelchair accessible in part.
