LADISLAV VLNA | VLNO-BYTÍ, Bechyně

The wave works with the sculptural material itself as a life-giving substance, from which the figure is born, separated, and into which it again dives and merges without a trace. In the meantime, this "stay here" forms the inner consciousness of the figures, which the author expresses through symbols and attributes referring to the human ability to resist fate and accept one's own existential temporality with all its fragility, skepticism, and elusiveness.

The exhibition WAVE-BEING presents a selection of the author's sculptural works complemented by monumental drawings and creates a dialogue with the history of culture, myths, rituals and contemporary literary and film fiction. The exhibition also includes significant historical dialogues - with the work Demon of Love (1910) by sculptor Quido Kocián from the Kitzberger Collection and with the sculpture Consciousness of Creators by František Bílek from the collection of the Aleš South Bohemian Gallery.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition will take place on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.
