Where to see the sights in winter

Are you fond of historical monuments so much that you want to visit them in winter? We know where they are open.

 

Most castles, chateaux and other historical monuments close during the autumn. But there are monuments that do not close even in winter. They are:

Hluboká nad Vltavou Castle

The castle offers a winter guided tour of private rooms. The rooms are heated, so you don't have to worry about freezing, but it's not a place to visit in a shirt. The Christmas decorated kitchen will be open on Advent weekends. Winter opening hours are from 9:00 to 16:00.

Český Krumlov Castle

Despite the winter, the number of visitors to Český Krumlov Castle is high due to foreign tourists. The main sightseeing tours are closed, but you can visit, for example, the castle museum, castle cellars, or the tower. 

Rožmberk Castle

Visitors who come to Rožmberk are welcome even in the winter. Private Rooms Route is open year-round except December and the first week of January. The tour also includes the English Tower.

Zlatá Koruna Monastery

The tours of monastery in Zlatá Koruna take place every Wednesday in November at 11:00 am and 12:00 pm.

Chateau Mělník

In winter, the chateau complex is open except for tours of wine cellars, which will be reopened in April.

Chateau Veltrusy

There are two guided tours at Veltrusy Castle in winter: Aristocracy: The Beginning of the End, and the exhibition of Measures and Weights. Closed only from 16.12. to 31.1. The chateau park is freely accessible.
